How To Use Salary Slip Template UAE?
Salary Slip Format UAE consists of 2 templates: Salary Slip UAE in English and Salary Slip UAE in Arabic. Both templates consist of the same salary heads. The only difference is the language.
This sheet consists of predefined formulas. Hence, all you need to do is to enter the company details, employee details, and CTC of the employee.
The sheet auto-calculates Basic salary and House Rent allowance. Insert conveyance allowance and medical allowance. Usually, these amounts are fixed in nature. Thus, need to be entered only once. These formulas can be changes according to the company policy.
Additionally, insert the overtime pay if any for the employee or insert 0. Overtime pay changes every month based on hours worked by employees.
Furthermore, insert the salary advance and other applicable deductions to each employee. Lastly, insert the bonus amount if applicable to the employee. Or else, insert 0.
The template calculates all the totals and subtotals automatically as all these cell consists of predefined formulas. This template can be useful to WPS service providers, HR heads, and office admins working in the UAE.

Components of Salary Slip Format UAE
There are two versions of this template. One is in the English language and another in the Arabic language.
The Salary Slip format UAE English version starts from left to right whereas the Salary Slip format UAE Arabic version starts from right to left. Moreover, the functioning of both the version is same and both have same formulas.
Salary Slip Format UAE consists of 6 sections:
- Company Credentials
- Employee Information
- Attendance Details
- Employee Bank Details
- Salary Calculation Section
- Approval Section.
Company Credentials
Enter your Company name and Company Address at the top. Insert the month for which you want to prepare the salary slip. Enter the first date of the month and it displays it like this “Jan-21”.
Sometimes, due to excel settings, this particular format might not display. To do this follow the following instructions:
- Go to cell and right-click and select “Format cells”.
- Click on the “Number” tabs and select Custom format. Select “mmm-yy” or manually type mmm-yy.
Employee Information
The employee information section consists of the following:
- Employee ID
- Employee Name
- Designation
- Department
Employee Id is a unique number. You can configure it according to your choice. This template uses the first two letters for the company’s initials. Middle two digits for the year and last two digits for the employee number.
Moreover, to automate its process, you can use the Data validation function for employee name, employee id, designation, and department by creating a dropdown list.
Attendance Details
This section consists of the following heads:
- Working Days
- Leaves Allowed
- Leaves Taken
- Payable Days
The template auto-calculates the Payable Days. If the employee hasn’t taken any leave it will display the full working days. Or else, it will deduct the leaves taken from working days and will add leaves allowed. The formula applied here is =IF(C12=0,C10,(C10-C12+C11)).
Bank Details
The Bank Details section consists of the following heads:
- Bank Name
- Account Number
- IBAN Number
As per the instructions from the Labor Ministry of UAE, the employer needs to transfer the salary through the WPS process. Thus, every bank account is given an IBAN number which the employer uses to transfer the salaries of its employees.
Salary Calculations
In the Salary Calculation section, you need to insert salary details. Most of the cells consist of predefined formulas. This section consists of the following heads:
CTC – Cost to Company
Basic
HRA
Conveyance Allowance
Medical Allowance
Overtime Pay
Gross Salary
Salary Advance
Other Deductions
Bonus
Net Payable Salary
CTC
“Cost to Company” means the costs borne by an employer to employ an individual.
Basic Salary
Usually, the basic salary ranges from 40%-60% of the CTC amount. This template uses 50% of the basic salary. You can change the formula depending on company policy.
HRA
House Rent Allowance depends on company policy. Most corporates give their employees HRA. Leave it blank if the employment contract doesn’t consist of this clause.
Conveyance Allowance
Conveyance Allowance is for compensating the employees travel to work and back. This allowance is given only if no transportation is provided by the employer. If the employer provides company transportation, then insert 0.
Medical Allowance
An employer pays Medical allowance to their employees to fulfill their medical expenses. This amount depends on company policy. Most corporates provide their employees with a fixed amount and others provide on a reimbursement basis.
Overtime Pay
An employer pays overtime to its employees for hours worked more than the normal hours. It is calculated upon the gross salary (basic salary + the agreed allowances). Depending on company policy the employee gets overtime pay with an increase of not less than 25% of that wage as per the Labor Laws.
Gross Salary
The template adds all the allowances to basic to form Gross Salary. Hence, Basic Salary + Total Allowance = Gross Salary.
Salary Advance
In the deduction sections, insert the amount of salary advance the employee has received. If not then enter 0.
Other Deductions
If there are any other deductions applicable to employee insert here or else leave blank.
Additional Perks
This section is usually blank unless there are any agreed-upon additional perks given to an employee. Usually, companies pay a bonus once a year during Ramadan or any other festival. It differs from company to company.
Net Salary
Net Salary consists of a predefined formula and is auto-calculated.
Approval Section
Amount in words displays the salary amount in text format. It uses SpellNumber Indian Rupees Excel Function which is manually inserted into the excel file. In OpenOffice Calc uses NUMBERTEXT Function add-in. Whereas the Google Sheet also uses Spell Number Indian Rupees script manually inserted through App Script.
Your Salary Slip is ready. Now click on the “Print” button on the top right and print the salary slip.
Get it signed and approved by the authorities.
